About 10,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled
into Fountain Creek Monday because of a corroded valve on a surge tank at the
Sand Creek wastewater lift station, Colorado Springs Utilities spokesman Mark
Murphy said. The spill is the fourth this year, including a 44,000-gallon spill
in January and two minor spills.
